We've got an event upcoming for Other:___ Magazine and a submission deadline.

But first things' first...

November 1st - deadline for submitting to our final Other:___ Magazine for 2010! It's never too late gorgeous people. Submit submit submit! If you're not sure where it goes, just send to other.editors@gmail.com.

And secondly...

November 3rd - Vertigo Gallery. A speakeasy event sponsored by Other:___ Magazine. More info upcoming. There's a writing workshop at 7pm and the Speakeasy at 8pm.

Yes it's 3 days late for the Ides of March, but you're 10 days early for our submission deadline! March 28th is the submission date for our Spring Issue.

Some other things are coming up for us at Other:___. We'll be at Vertigo Voices on March 31st. 7:00pm at the Kal (Vernon) Okanagan Campus. Come on down.

Mmm. Poetry Grand Slam

How would you like some p's and q's with your bacon and eggs? Other:___ is meeting at Vernon Denny's for our first ever Poetry Grand Slam. Short notice, I know, but it will be lots of fun.

Come join us on Monday March 15 at 7pm. We'll be located at the back of the restaurant. Bring your hunger for food and a hunger for poetic indulgence. Or at least just bring your heiny and drag your friends.

We want YOU to film, photograph, copy, scrape, sticker and cover the Okanagan (and the world) with your random acts of poetry. Document it and send it in to our emails. We'll put them up here on the blog and the interesting ones will go into the Spring Other:___. Submit by March 8th and you may win swag and prizes!

Come and read your poetry or prose, show off your visual arts, sing your songs, or play your instruments - anything goes. If you're not performing, stop by and enjoy the show. Come and read your poetry, prose, show off your visual arts, sing your songs, play your instruments – anything goes. If you’re not into performing, stop by and enjoy the show. Hey all! So, Issue Three of Other:______ is under way, but we're gonna need a lot of submissions :D

This time around, we're weaving a theme into the 'Zine. Something we're anticipating may inspire our writers/visual artists, and call to our readers:

And of course, we're not restricting the issue to this theme, by any means. Other:_____ just wouldn't be Other: without the wide array of subjects our Contributing Artists so consistently provide. So if you've got a piece of work that you think is good (or someone else tells you is good), then don't hesitate to send it in! We'd love to see it!

After nearly a year of tribulations the Pine Beetle Review completed its metamorphosis. Other:_____ has burst out of the old, beetley cocoon and is ready to write havoc all over Canada. A new collective of student volunteers has picked up the tiny reins, and have finished the soon-to-be infamous Issue One after a rocking Issue Five of the Pine Beetle (which you've probably heard of because it's legendary et cetera). The first issue features work by both Okanagan & national authors, emerging and established alike, including Sina Queyras, Jesse Ferguson, Tom Smith, Jerry Graham and, of course, others!
